Sedation Dentistry

Treatment under general anesthesia in a hospital means the patient is completely asleep while dental work is performed. A specialized medical doctor (anesthesiologist) maintains the sleep state in the operating room while Dr. Quas completes the necessary dental procedures. During surgery, the anesthesiologist and a nurse monitor the heart, breathing patterns, quality of oxygen exchange, blood pressure, and temperature of the patient. Patients have the absolute highest level of care and medical attention while under general anesthesia.

At Bluefish, we take extra time to make sure that you are well informed about the recommended treatment plan for your child. Prior to your hospital dentistry appointment, our staff will sit down with you and provide a complete overview and understanding of the process and what to expect before, during and after surgery. We do our best to address all of your questions and concerns and make sure that you are comfortable with the treatment that your child will receive. In addition, we follow-up on our hospital dentistry patients extensively. You can expect post-operative check-ins with our staff at two, four, eight and 16 weeks after surgery.

If you have any questions related to sedation dentistry please let us know. We are always happy to address any of your concerns.
